State of the Municipality 2026

The annual State of the Municipality event explores the results of an independent research study, such as the 2026 study on municipal service delivery in Maryland. It assembles local leaders, officials, subject matter experts, and policymakers from across Maryland to examine data and insights shaping the state's communities, with a focus on topics ranging from economic development to infrastructure and community resiliency. A key theme is often how Maryland municipalities manage high-impact, quality of life services with limited resources, emphasizing the need for a modernized revenue structure for local governments. The event facilitates thoughtful discussions on policy issues, new data, budgets, and the role of the private sector in service provision.
