Montgomery County Historic Preservation Commission Meeting
The commission reviewed several historic area work permits, which were subsequently approved. A primary focus of the meeting was a preliminary consultation regarding the David Ziegler House, an individually designated master plan site. Discussions included the structural condition of the house, particularly the historic log portion, which has been deemed beyond repair due to deterioration. The commission reviewed proposals for demolishing the log section and reconstructing it with standard framing, as well as modifications to the rear roof, window replacements, and the use of appropriate siding materials. The staff and commissioners deliberated on the preservation of historic elements versus the necessity of reconstruction to ensure the building's structural integrity and future habitation.
