North High School Ad Hoc Committee Ad Hoc Committee Minutes
The committee addressed design and budgetary constraints for the North High School project. Discussions involved classifying facility requirements into essential, reducible, and add-on spaces to maintain core academic standards. The committee established Design Option 3 as the new baseline to align the project with the $85 million budget, effectively moving away from earlier, more costly proposals. Previous sessions focused on identifying the causes of significant cost overruns and square-footage inflation related to the initial Design Plan 3B, evaluating trade-offs between core classrooms and auxiliary spaces, and exploring strategies to optimize construction and site configurations.

North High School Ad Hoc Committee Special Committee Meeting
The committee meeting addressed the budget challenges associated with the North High School project, specifically noting that initial designs exceeded the $85 million budget. The discussion covered the history of the project, including voter-approved funding and the impossible nature of completing the previously approved 3B Project Plan within the budget. Alternative design options were presented, and the committee deliberated on the importance of preserving key existing structures, such as the 1970s gymnasium, while ensuring the high school remains a priority over community service centers. Additionally, the committee discussed the limited community engagement and survey responses received thus far, and the need for strategic spending to deliver a quality high school experience.
