City of Canandaigua Zoning Board of Appeals Regular Meeting
The Zoning Board of Appeals reviewed an application for an area variance regarding a 9-foot-high privacy fence. The applicant requested the variance for visual screening and deer deterrent purposes, offering to revise to 8 feet if necessary. The board evaluated the request against a five-part test, focusing on neighborhood character, alternative methods for achieving privacy, the substantial nature of the variance, environmental impact, and whether the hardship was self-created. Ultimately, the board voted to deny the application.
