Fair Rent Commission Special Meeting
The Fair Rent Commission held a special meeting to address procedural concerns regarding quorum requirements and minority representation among board members. Following a recess and internal deliberations, the Commission voted to seat alternate members to ensure balanced representation between landlords and tenants. The chair clarified the Commission's statutory authority, emphasizing its role in evaluating individual rent complaints under state law rather than serving as a rent control board. Additionally, the Commission voted to consolidate 18 pending cases involving Pyramid Real Estate Group and property owners, and commenced the hearing by swearing in parties and reviewing evidentiary binders submitted by both sides.
