The council meeting addressed several key issues. A salary and wage ordinance was approved, including updated wages for the Town Marshal and Deputy Marshal. A corrected appropriation reduction resolution was also approved. Finally, the council approved the 1782 Notice Budget Year 2025.
The council meeting's key discussion points centered on the approval of a consent agenda encompassing various financial resolutions. These resolutions included fund transfers between different operational accounts (Wastewater, Trash, Park, Stormwater, General, and Water Operations), the establishment of a new fund for lease bonds and townhouse construction, and the approval of vouchers and salary ordinances. Additionally, authorization was given for year-end payments and transfers, along with the approval of Skip Davidson's consulting proposal.
The meeting focused on the discussion and decision-making process regarding the utilization of remaining ARPA funds. The council explored options for obligating these funds, including using them for necessary purchases or allocating them to personnel costs to free up general fund money for road projects. A resolution was passed to obligate ARPA funds to personnel expenses, and an amendment to the 2025 salary ordinance was approved to reflect this decision. The amendment also included a correction for the Fire Marshal position.
