Wallingford-Swarthmore School District Educational Affairs Committee Educational Affairs Committee Meeting
The committee meeting focused on two primary topics: the Extended School Year (ESY) program and a new transition boot camp pilot. For the ESY program, the discussion covered eligibility criteria based on state statutes, the importance of reserving services for students with significant needs, strategies for optimizing staff participation, and the logistical coordination required for successful operations. The transition boot camp discussion highlighted a proactive initiative designed to mitigate stress and build confidence for incoming middle school students, particularly those not eligible for ESY, by providing pre-instruction and promoting familiarity with the school environment through collaborative planning with parents and staff.
