The Wilmington Tree Commission discussed the dredging project and the importance of providing formal comments to address environmental concerns. The commission explored potential ecological impacts, such as the destruction of old-growth bald cypress trees and the expansion of ghost forests due to saltwater intrusion caused by deepening the river. Key discussions included the lack of tree-related considerations in existing mitigation plans and the necessity of submitting individual comments to relevant authorities, alongside a proposal for the City Council to formally endorse the commission's recommendations in a future meeting.

The Commission held a design review hearing to discuss a request for establishing setbacks for a potential new house at 103 North Seventh Street. Key discussion topics included the proposed setbacks for the house and the inclusion of a driveway and garage on the vacant lot, specifically regarding compliance with design standards for the historic district. The Commission examined the proposed layout, potential impacts on the street's character, and the necessity of aligning new construction with the historic district's unique design guidelines.
The commission held elections for the positions of Chair and Vice Chair. The agenda featured a review of multiple street closure requests, which were ultimately continued to future meetings. Additionally, the commission deliberated on a proposed land development code amendment intended to allow and regulate projecting signs within MD10 and MD17 zoning districts, discussing appropriate size and location standards in relation to existing non-residential policies.
